I want to let you in on a little secret:
My favorite part of the year, after January, is September.
Why? Because it’s the perfect time for a fresh start! It’s a new opportunity to reach your biggest goals, to make your New Year’s Resolution happen.
It’s a second chance to start the year over.
September is a fantastic time to begin again, to reexamine your goals, and to create plans for making them happen.
The first thing I want to invite you to do is think about your year so far.
Make a Fresh Start in September
How does your progress compare with where you expected to be when you were creating your New Year’s Resolutions in January?
Have you been making the money you want to make? Working on the projects you want to work on? Have you launched any big new projects? How is your work-life balance? How are your relationships faring? How are you doing in the area of health and fitness? Money-wise, are you where you wanted to be?
This is a great opportunity to just reflect and take stock. There may be some areas where you’re really taking off, and you’ve exceeded your expectations. On the other hand, some areas may be a source of struggle for you.
Whatever your situation, September is a powerful month for really getting clear on what you’d like to accomplish by the end of the year – and for recommitting to that goal and putting a plan in place to make it happen.
We’ve got many weeks to go before the end of the year, and this is a great opportunity for a second chance … that’s why I call it “Fresh Start September.”
So, I’d like for you to pick THE goal, the one thing that, if you were to achieve it by the end of the year, it would just mean everything to you. It may be a New Year’s Resolution you had in January, or it may be a new goal that developed during the year.
How to make a Fresh Start
Whatever it is, the first thing you want to do is write it out in present tense, as if you have achieved it.
It will look something like this: “It is now the thirty-first of December, and I am so grateful and happy that I have (fill in the blank).”
The next thing you’re going to do is reverse engineer all the things that need to happen between now and the 31st of December to make it happen.
Write down the key milestones, the key moments, and the key elements you must have in place along the journey in order for you to arrive at the end result.
Now get out your calendar. Take your plan and translate it into specific daily, weekly actions that you can take over and over to make it happen.
Then, begin implementing your plan for achieving your goal!
(“Bonus” tip – I strongly recommend you include some kind of weekly accountability, where you sit down and track how well you’re doing, and what kind of progress you’re making.)
I promise you that if you follow my tips above for achieving your goal, that one thing you desire that has eluded you so far, will be yours by December 31!
So let’s go for it. Let’s make it happen.
